Our building is divided into three parts that are connected by two big halls. Students meet there during break, free periods or at important events.
The cafeteria is not only used for meals, but also for chatting and working.
In central position there is our library of over 25.000 volumes with a big section of literature for adolescents and quite a few periodicals. All books are listed in a catalogue according to title, author, and keywords.
Our projection room is also used for panel discussions and theatre performances.
The music section has a studio and a big room for rehearsals that is also used by the Young Göttingen Synfony Orchestra.
Our science rooms can boast of an extraordinary equipment and they are also used by the University of Göttingen.
Three art rooms, a language laboratory, a photo lab, and a computer room complete the equipment.
The senior high school classes are close to those special rooms, whereas grades 7 and 8 are in one wing on two levels around two smaller recreational halls.
Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium owns a school fields centre (run by the School Fields Centre Association OHG in cooperation with a Comprehension School and an association for extra-curricular education) on the Hoher Hagen, a hill at about 15 km from Göttingen. This fact allows to have classes outside our school and to try new methods of extra-curricular learning.
We also have an Association of Friends of Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium that helps to finance certain activities, pays for part of the costs of our school fields centre and sponsors projects of students (e.g. our yearbook). In 1995 this association helped to complete the equipment of our music section, in 1996 pedagogical conferences for teachers, parents and students are subsidized.
